Overview
This project is a condensed, one-minute version of a longer personal branding video I originally created. The original piece ran nearly two minutes and explored my background in more depth, but I wanted a tighter, more accessible version that would work better for LinkedIn, portfolio intros, and quick recruiter reviews.
The goal of this shorter rework was to distill my message down to the essentials—maintaining clarity, purpose, and storytelling while moving at a faster pace.
The result is a streamlined one-minute video that expresses who I am as a designer and developer, and how I help teams communicate clearly and confidently.
Challenge
The goal wasn’t just to talk about my experience—it was to articulate the story behind it.
The challenge was twofold:
- Edit a longer, thoughtful narrative into a concise format without losing its meaning.
- Communicate my hybrid skill set—branding, UX, visual design, development—quickly and effectively.
The original script had strong foundations but included longer exposition, examples, and rhythm changes. For a recruiter or hiring manager, 120 seconds can feel long; 55–60 seconds is far more approachable. The task became a storytelling and editing exercise: simplify, clarify, and sharpen.
This mirrors what I do for clients—turn something detailed into something clear.

Outcome
The final one-minute video:
- Communicates my creative + technical hybrid value
- Presents a clear narrative without overwhelming detail
- Works perfectly as a quick professional introduction
- Functions as a standalone design artifact demonstrating clarity, editing, storytelling, and visual structure
- Aligns with the expectations of modern recruiters, hiring managers, and busy clients
Project Scope
- Deliverables: mpeg4 video file
- Tools: Illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, A.I. (ChatGPT, Firefly, Nano Banana, Gemini, Flux, Natural Readers)
- Roles: Graphic Designer, Editor, Director
Approach
1. Distilling the Core Message
I kept the primary thesis from the longer version:
I bring both creative and technical experience, and I use that combination to help teams communicate clearly and confidently.
Everything else had to ladder up to that statement. If a phrase didn’t reinforce that message, it was removed or refined.
2. Restructuring the Narrative for Brevity
In the long-form video, the script followed a full arc:
- Early work in branding
- Growth into web and UX
- Lessons learned through cross-disciplinary work
- Where I add value today
For the short version, I compressed that into five concise, high-impact beats:
- Who I am (creative + technical)
- Career intersection (design + technology)
- What I do best (simplifying complexity)
- What I’ve learned (design = communication)
- How I work (collaboration)
This approach kept the depth while eliminating redundancy.
3. Editing for a One-Minute Runtime
The final script was read aloud during editing to check pacing. I trimmed transitions, tightened phrasing, and ensured the delivery feels natural—not rushed—within 55–60 seconds.
This editing pass is what truly transformed the piece from “shorter” to “sharper.”
It’s far more shareable and fits seamlessly into my portfolio, LinkedIn feed, and email outreach.
