Branding Evolution

Many an art student has had the project to copy a Master’s work, then produce something in the same style. Little did I know how that project would shape things going forward. I chose to do a piece from Roy Lichtenstein, in his Bull Series

My attempts were similar to these designs, but all done on paper with ink. These are recreated versions done on computer with Adobe Illustrator, as the original was thrown away at the end of the semester. For a period of time, after college, I used both versions without the inner concentric circles.

Being a designer, I always felt like I could do more with it. Along the way I got the idea of the transposition of a fingerprint very large with the hand small, which I ran with that idea for quite awhile.

The fingerprint idea grew more, as there is really nothing more personal than that as means of identification, or by extension brand. My name, Trey, has multiple origins all relating to the number three. I’ve always toyed around with trying to incorporate three into my branding. Eventually the ideas coalesced into the design I’m using now, or at least until I change it again.

Update: Well that didn’t take long, after some feedback I tweaked the logo a little more. The white version in the background below is the previous version, with the orange being the new version.
