Project Overview
This project was a personal design study focused on intentionally incorporating AI into the logo design process. The goal was not to replace traditional design practice, but to explore how AI-generated output could serve as a starting point for concept development, followed by human-led refinement and decision-making.
The study examines where automation adds value and where design judgment remains essential.

Design Challenge
AI tools can generate visuals quickly, but speed alone does not guarantee clarity, meaning, or usability. The challenge was to transform an AI-generated concept into a coherent logo with intentional symbolism, balanced composition, and practical application as a mark.
The emphasis was on authorship, refinement, and restraint.
Concept and Symbolism
The logo merges three core visual ideas: a torch, a shield, and the aesthetic language of stained glass. Together, these elements form an emblem that communicates guidance, protection, and heritage.
- The torch represents illumination, knowledge, and forward direction.
- The shield symbolizes defense, resilience, and principle.
- The stained glass influence suggests tradition, craftsmanship, and timelessness.
Combined, these symbols create a narrative of strength guided by wisdom and presented with elegance.
AI-Assisted Design Process
The initial concept was generated through a prompt-driven AI logo tool. This output was treated as raw material rather than a finished design.
The artwork was then rebuilt and refined in Adobe Illustrator. Forms were clarified, proportions adjusted, and visual hierarchy established to ensure the logo could function effectively across real-world applications. This process highlights how AI can accelerate exploration, while human judgment shapes intent, quality, and execution.
Typography and Latin Inscriptions
Two Latin phrases were incorporated to reinforce the symbolic depth of the mark:
- Aut cum scuto aut in scuto
“Either with shield or on shield.”
A statement of resolve, courage, and commitment. - Astra inclinant, sed non obligant
“The stars incline us, they do not bind us.”
A reflection on guidance without predestination, reinforcing agency and principle.
These inscriptions complement the visual symbolism and strengthen the conceptual foundation of the logo.
Outcome
The final logo represents a successful synthesis of AI-assisted ideation and traditional design refinement. It demonstrates that while AI can accelerate and inspire, thoughtful design decisions, symbolism, and craftsmanship remain firmly human responsibilities.
This study serves as both a finished mark and an exploration of modern design workflows.
